The General Secretary of the AIADMK Ms Jayalalithaa has said that a grave injustice had been done to the Tamils in Sri Lanka. She further said that several thousands of lives could have been saved, had the Congress-led Union government taken steps to bring about a ceasefire in Sri Lanka.
Speaking to the media in Chennai today, Ms Jayalalithaa said the public were very angry with the State and the Union governments.
When asked about Rahul Gandhi’s statement that there would be a change in alliances after the elections, Ms Jayalalithaa said at present she did not want to discuss the matter.
She charged that the Congress-led Union government and the DMK government in Tamil Nadu had done great injustice to the Sri Lankan Tamils.
She said that she did not care about the threat to her life.
Ms Jayalalithaa also urged the election commission to take action on the complaints about large scale irregularities being committed by the DMK in Madurai.
